What’s the Rush?

I have always been self-conscious about the effort it takes to accomplish many mundane tasks. Usually they are tasks that involve organizational planning, spatial awareness, visual acuity, and gross and fine motor skills. My chronic state of “desperately trying to keep up” has riddled my physical body with tension and stiffness. It is mentally and physically exhausting.
Unmasking Dyspraxia
What’s the rush?
I have to keep up!
I have to show up!
Prepare way in advance
Arrive extra early
To set up and settle in.
What’s the rush?
I can’t find it…
My hands don’t work…
No beautifully folded sheets,
No neat filing system,
No elegantly plated food.
What’s the rush?
Always the last to leave
Multiple tries
Multiple steps
Multiple sighs
Multiple tries.
Why can’t it be easy?
Why rush?
Accept slow
It’s all I know
Stop pushing,
clenching, dropping
racing. Stumbling.
Set judgement aside,
Enjoy the ride.
I am learning to pace myself and put the right support systems in place so I can partake more in the dance of life.
