Unmasking the Elephant

Cute blue elephant holding a smiling theater mask with its trunk against a vibrant orange, textured background. Playful and whimsical mood.

Smile!

Smile little elephant!

You are pleasing and cute!

Awkwardness and flaws

A smile dilutes.

Why do you smile so much?

To be agreeable?

To be nice?

To be polite?

Sometimes the smile is real,

Sometimes it’s a mask.

Why do I smile so much?

Sometimes I need to ask.

Tuning In

The world I perceive through my eyes can be described as chaotic. As I get older, it affects me more, and I am becoming more sensitive to sound. Quiet or calming sounds and uncluttered quiet spaces are becoming more essential.

Straight Lines

I cannot perceive straight lines

Just trembling and movement

Effervessent

Zig zags and blurs

Streaks and waveforms

A nervous jumble of colors and shapes

A street sign, address or familiar face

Takes work to find

And lots of extra time

Yet sometimes I see by chance

It’s the luck of the glance

Is there something drawing that place or person to me?
